It's a busy Wednesday night with 8 fixtures in Serie A and 5 from La Liga, as well as a big clash in the Premier League as Chelsea look to take another step towards the title as they travel to an on form Leicester. I don't have the time to do full previews or even look at every fixture so I will be focusing most of my attention on the Italian action where I'm hoping for more goals after 9 out of 10 Serie A fixtures at the weekend resulted in BTTS and I also like the looks of a couple of away wins in La Liga as Atletico and their brilliant manager Simeone travel to an off-form Villareal. Here are my previews, predictions and best bets for the best of Wednesday's action. Premier League
20:45 Leicester vs Chelsea - Prediction 0.1- Best Bet - Chelsea to win @3/4 Chelsea should claim the points here with Leicester expected to focus on their huge clash with Newcastle at the weekend. If Leicester do rest some key players then you can expect the 3/4 on offer for a Chelsea win to drop sharply but given the form of Leicester and the fact Chelsea would probably take a point means that I'm giving this one a miss unless the team news encourages me otherwise. La Liga 20:00 Eibar vs Sevilla - Prediction - Best Bet - Sevilla to win @4/6 While I don't usually like betting on this league, I have to back Sevilla to get the points tonight at lowly Eibar. Eibar were living the dream earlier in the season as the minnows marched into La Liga and seemed to handle themselves pretty well as they adjusted to life in the big time but since the turn of the year their form has taken a dramatic slump with 12 defeats in their last 14 in the league. Their home form is equally woeful with 6 defeats in their last 7, or 8 from their last 10 and it would be a surprise if they can stop an on form Sevilla who are unbeaten in 9 fixtures, and are looking to close in on Valencia and a potential 3rd place finish. Sevilla are pretty good on the road lately, winning 3 of their last 4 and while they did suffer a mid season blip themselves in losing 6 of 8 away games, I expect their current form to be the accurate barometer tonight. 20:00 Real Madrid vs Almeria - Prediction 4.0- Best Bet - No bet La Liga really is boring. How many tonight boys? 4 ? 5? well who knows, and as I said last night, who cares. Another mis-match and another home smashing ensues. No bets. 22:00 Villarreal vs Atletico Madrid - Prediction 0.2 - Best Bet - Atletico to win @5/4 Villareal are in the midst of a mid season slump that has seen them lose 4 of their last 6 at home, including their elimination in Europe at the hands of Sevilla. The hosts are without a win in 9 games now and the visit of Diego Simeone's Atletico is unlikely to see their luck change. Atletico don't have the best record at El Madrigal with just 1 win in 6 visits, which is probably reflected in the 5/4 price on the away win here but given the hosts form, I think it is a pretty solid bet. While Atleti's away form is not exactly stellar with just 2 wins from their last 6 on the road, I expect them to hurt Villareal on the counter attack as the hosts will look to dictate play and that is likely to suit the counter attacking style of Simeone's lionhearts. Villareal are a good footballing side but they really have hit a slump and don't strike me as the kind of team likely to grind out results. It's either play well and win or be rotten and lose and I am going with the latter here. An away win is no banker, especially in Spain but this one looks good to me @5/4 odds. Serie A 20:45 AC Milan vs Genoa - Prediction 1.1- Best Bet BTTS @8/11 The first of 3 games where I fancy BTTS in Italy tonight and this one looks the most obvious of all. Milan have scored in 11 out of their previous 13 home games with BTTS in 8 of those, including 5 of the last 6 played at the San Siro and most importantly, they have only kept 3 clean sheets at home all season. Genoa themsleves have scored in 13 out of 15 away games, failing only to score at Juve and Fiorentina with BTTS in 11 of their last 14, including 6 of their last 8 on the road. I am tempted to back an away win for Genoa against the fallen giants but a BTTS selection at 8/11 looks pretty good to me. 20:45 Sassuolo vs Roma - Prediction 1.2- Best Bet - BTTS @5./6 The stats here make a good case for the BTTS selection at 5/6 odds. Sassuolo have scored in 8 of their last 9 at home, failing to score only against Lazio while they have seen BTTS in 9 out of 12 at home, including 7 of their last 9 and with only 3 clean sheets from 15 it seemS BTTS is likely. Roma themselves have scored in 10 of their last 11 away games with BTTS in 6 of their last 8 on the road and with only 4 clean sheets from their last 12 away, I fancy BTTS @5/6. 20:45 Palermo vs Torino - Prediction 1.1- Best Bet - BTTS @5/6 Another fixture where BTTS looks quite likely. Torino have scored at least once in 14 of their last 15 games, and in each of their last 8 away fixtures, with BTTS in 6 of those games. The hosts Palermo have scored in 11 out of their previous 13 home games, while 8 of those 11 have seen BTTS. To me, this one has 1.1 written all over it and I will be on BTTS @5/6 again. 20:45 Cesena vs Atalanta - Prediction 1.1- Best Bet - BTTS @10/11 I don't expect a goal glut here and it won't be a best bet but BTTS looks quite possible when you consider that Atalanta have seen 10 of their last 12 games result in BTTS, including 4 of their last 5 away games. Cesena though have struggled for goals and each of their last 4 at home have been under 2.5 goals but I fancy that we might see a 1.1 draw and of course that would bring in the BTTS @10/11. 20:45 Juventus vs Fiorentina - Prediction 1.0- Best Bet - Juve to win @8/13 I've taken a late look at this game and I'm going with a home win that will seal the title for Juve. Bo's Best Bets Milan v Genoa BTTS @8/11 Palermo v Torino - BTTS @5/6 Sassuolo v Roma - BTTS @ 5/6 Sevilla to beat Eibar @4/6 Atletico to beat Villareal @5/4 Juventus to beat Fiorentina @8/13 Chelsea to beat Leicester @3/4 Comments are closed.
