I can't brag too much about my predictions of an all Madrid final (first explained in detail on April 12th ) as I have not profited hugely from both Madrid clubs emerging victorious this week. Indeed, while i did predict the make up of the final, the manner of both second legs was hugely surprising and now we have a final that marks a historical first.
Now we are down to 2 sides, from the same country and for the first time in European Cup or Champions League history, we have 2 teams from the same city. The Barcelona faithful are understandably choking on their chorizo at the prospect. It would appear most Catalans will be busy on May 24th and I don't imagine the Barcelona bars will be jumping for this particular event. The manner of tonight's result would have stumped most with plenty of others backing the on form Chelsea and under 2.5 goals which while expected, was not part of my only big bet for the day. It was however a big surprise to see BTTS inside 45 minutes and over 3.5 goals. In the end, I should have gone for Diego Costa anytime rather than first goalscorer but who would have expected Atletico to score 3? While I did bet on both sides to qualify, I did not bet with full conviction as both ties were so evenly poised but like I said in my previous post, I could not ignore my gut feeling on these games and so it proved. It's been a quiet week for the bets but we have emerged 30 euros in profit over the last 2 days and any profit is not to be sniffed at. In hindsight, I should have applied more conviction to my predictions for the classic final but my main focus will be on the weekend's action and I cannot be too disappointed. Here are my results from tonight's bets. BET 1) STAKE 55 EUROS Atletico Madrid to qualify - 10/11 Winner returned 105 Euros BET 2) STAKE 10 EUROS Diego Costa to score first goal - 11/2 Lost BET 3) STAKE 10 EUROS Atletico to win 1.0 - 6/1 Lost Total Staked - 75 Total Returned 105 Results from week so far Total Staked - 253 Total Returned - 283 Attention turns to London tonight for the second of our Champions League semi-finals as Chelsea entertain La Liga leaders, Atletico Madrid in the only match of note across Europe today.
I tipped the all Madrid final on the day of the Champions League draw back in April seen below Bo's Champions League Tips (APRIL 12TH) Atletico Madrid vrs Real Madrid final - 3/1 Atletico to win the tournament - 7/2 One part of the double down and dusted, and I am not shifting on my earlier predictions of an all Madrid final. Chelsea of course are relentless at home and I do think this tie is 50/50, however, at these points, my gut feelings are impossible to ignore, and changing your mind is a betting no no. Besides, Chelsea have won it recently and Jose has been something of a prick lately (When is he not) and few will want to see him reach another final. Where there is a will, there is always a way. Of course, this matters little in the outcome of the football match and Mourinho is the ultimate big game manager and it takes a brave man to back against Chelsea, but that's exactly what I plan to do. As to whether I am brave or not? well that is perhaps debatable. Mourinho and Chelsea put on a defensive masterclass against Liverpool, but Atletico and Diego Simeone are a tougher nut to crack than the soft sweet nutella that is Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers. It was clear on Sunday that Rodgers had no tactical answer to Mourinho but Simeone is an all together more pragmatic manager and this promises to be a real chess match. Will Atletico look to play Chelsea at their own game? Almost certainly. They have been described as a mini Chelsea but this does the Spaniards a disservice on many levels. Not only are they built on a comparative shoe string budget but they are certainly not a team who like to park the bus to the extent with which Chelsea have done at points. They play a quick and direct style with tremendous discipline and organisation. At the very least they are Chelsea's equals (without the money) and tonight they can prove it. The first leg was one of the dullest football matches I have seen this season and tomorrow's could follow a similar pattern but for me the slight advantage rests with Atleti for a number of reasons. Jose is well aware that if Atletico can score then Chelsea will need 2 and Simeone's men are a well drilled machine unlikely to give up 2 goals. The only way they can win this tie, is if they score the first goal and hold on to their lead but the fact they failed to score an away goal in Spain means that they can ill afford to be overly adventurous tomorrow night. That fear of conceding an away goal will force Chelsea into a defensive pattern and given that Atletico can afford to concede and still only need 1 goal to take the tie to extra time, will allow them more freedom to attack, especially in the second half when the tension inside the stadium grows. These factors lead me to conclude that the pressure is on Chelsea tomorrow and it may well prove to be a bridge too far. My expectation is of a nervous Chelsea, unwilling to attack and an Atletico side willing to play direct and sit in tight. End result? under 2.5 goals unless Atletico can score an early goal and even then it still seems highly unlikely we are going to see a goal packed thriller tomorrow. I have a big feeling for Ateltico to get the first goal and return to Madrid to meet their masters in the final of all finals. The bookies cannot split them with both priced at 10/11 to qualify but I am happy to stick with my initial prediction and I expect Atletico to make it through. Whoever scores first will almost certainly win and I think Diego Costa can be the man to deliver. Costa is 11/2 to score first and this represents better value than the anytime price of 11/5 as I expect 1 goal could be enough. It promises to be low scoring, perhaps dirty, almost certainly niggly, scrappy, Jose style encounter but with a different outcome to the one who he has become accustomed in past years. Here are my selections. BET 1) STAKE 55 EUROS Atletico Madrid to qualify - 10/11 BET 2) STAKE 10 EUROS Diego Costa to score first goal - 11/2 BET 3) STAKE 10 EUROS Atletico to win 1.0 - 6/1 For Pep, the beauty of Barcelona in days gone by (as gloriously depicted in the photo above) must feel like a distant memory tonight as Real Madrid dismantled Bayern in front of a stunned German crowd.
You have to feel sorry for Guardiola, the man who this week lost his best friend, in the tragic passing of Tito Villanova to cancer. Undoubtedly his focus would have been shaken. Of course this is no explanation for the extraordinary events of tonight and Real thoroughly deserved their victory but this defeat must be the worst and most painful of his managerial career. The margin of defeat and the manner of it had echoes of last year's "end of an era" match when Bayern thrashed Barca 7.0 over two legs. The irony of course is that in two successive seasons, it is Pep's teams that have been humiliated when it mattered most. Of course Guardiola was not in charge for Barca's downfall last season but it was very much his team on the field and once again we have seen a thrashing of a Guardiola inspired team and whether the man can bounce back from such a painful week, remains to be seen. Simply put, in Europe, and in recent weeks, Bayern have been ordinary. They were less than impressive in their victories over Arsenal and Man Utd and tonight we saw them blown away by a team who know exactly how to play against the style of football that Pep loves so much. It was a lesson in how not to defend and there needs to be a major rethink in the Guardiola principles if he is to regain the Champions League crown. In any case, it was a hugely disappointing outcome and the fact they failed to score in both ties is quite a shock and illustrative of how blunt they were in front of goal but their failure to land my BTTS was somewhat diluted by the Madrid victory however, neither results mattered in the outcomes of my bets. Here are the results from tonights bets. BET 1) Stake 70 Euros Wigan to beat Birmingham 5/6 WON 1.0 Returns 128 Euros WINNER 15 euros on Birmingham or draw at this point at 11/4 would mean our worst result would be a 10 euro loss or a 43 euro profit. Im going to let it run...foolish? we will see in 10 minutes or so what I decide to do. I let it run until the 80th minute and put 8 euros on the win or draw at 7/1. This guaranteed my profit and we ended up making 50 euros on this bet. BET 2) Stake 50 Euros Wigan to score 2 or more goals 10/11 LOST - SCORED 1 (1 DISALLOWED :() Bayern v Real BTTS 4/7 LOST Returns 140 Euros LOST BET 3) Stake 30 Euros Birmingham v Wigan BTTS 4/5 LOST 0.1 Charlton v Watford BTTS 4/6 WON 3.1 Real Madrid to qualify 4/6 WON 4.0 Returns 150 EUROS LOST 10 EUROS After 60 minutes, BTTS was a winner at Charlton and Madrid were safe so at this point I was able to cover this bet by putting 30 on Both teams NOT to score at Birmingham to return 20. This ensured either a 10 euro loss only, or a big 90 euro profit. Unfortunately it was the former and in the end we ended the night 10 euros down. Tomorrow;s big game looks tough to call but I should post something shortly. Bona nit Staggering. Just staggering, Only 40 minutes on the clock in Munich and it's already clear that Real are in the final and Bayern are a shambles. Not the team of last season. And Xabi Alonso, what were you thinking? Unforgivable to pick up a yellow at this point in the tie and to miss out on your first European Cup Final in 9 years is a criminal shame for a great player.
Indeed it has been a positive first half for my bets, in particular the performance of Real, if somewhat shocking. Surely Bayern can get 1 to bring up the BTTS? I will do my best to post some half time reviews in the coming weeks, especially in the World Cup and where possible to indicate any cover bets that I will be looking to apply. Here are the halftime scores in our 3 fixtures Bayern 0 v 3 Real Madrid Charlton 1 v 0 Watford Birmingham 0 v 1 Wigan (frustration as Wigan had a goal chopped off) and a reminder of my bets for tonight BET 1) Stake 70 Euros Wigan to beat Birmingham - 5/6 Returns 128 Euros 15 Euros on Birmingham or draw at this point at 11/4 would mean our worst result would be a 10 euro loss or a 43 euro profit. Im going to let it run...foolish? we will see in 10 minutes or so what I decide to do. BET 2) Stake 50 Euros Wigan to score 2 or more goals - 10/11 Bayern v Real BTTS - 4/7 Returns 140 Euros Going to let this run. BET 3) Stake 30 Euros Birmingham v Wigan BTTS - 4/5 Charlton v Watford BTTS - 4/6 Real Madrid to qualify - 4/6 Likewise. Let it run, we have a chance in all 3. Come on the goals!!! There are 3 games I am going to focus on tonight and we are going to mix it up a little as I am still undecided on the nature and style of my next challenge.
In my previous post, i outlined my views on the Champions League tie tonight, and I still believe Real have what it takes to make it through, even if they lose tonight. I can see Los Blancos scoring and sneaking through on away goals but of course a lot depends on how both sides approach tonight's match. It's obvious that Bayern will have the ball almost exclusively but will they be content to keep it tight themselves and make it to half time at 0.0? if this happens, then perhaps a 1.0 Bayern win is a possibility but if they go for Real's throat then the possibility of BTTS is very high. Of course, it is a semi-final and that is the only thing worrying me about this game tonight as they are usually low scoring, highly tactical affairs and this one could yet end up following a similar pattern. For that reason, I am not certain of the BTTS but I will still be backing it. Team news is in, Ronaldo and Bale start. Madrid to qualify! In the Championship in England, Wigan have to take care of lowly Birmingham, as explained in my previous post and given that they have conceded 2 or more goals in each of their last 10 home games (27 goals in total) and have lost all but 2 of those matches. The best bet of the night, could be Wigan to score 2 or more at 10/11. The Latics have been cut to 5/6 favourites but that price is still not to be ignored and I also fancy BTTS which has landed in 8 of The Blues last 9 at home. 8/11 for BTTS Finally we have Charlton and Watford meeting in a London derby with the home side desperate for points in order to beat the drop while Watfords promotions hopes are dead in the water. The key stats for this affair is that Watford have seen BTTS in 16 of their 21 away games this season including 11 of their last 13 and 6 out of 6 in recent weeks. Goals looks the call as Charlton have to produce their best tonight and Watford as we can see are almost always good for a goal (they have scored in 17 of 21 away games, 34 goals in total) so BTTS at 8/13 s my final selection. Here are my Best Bets and my final selections. Bo's Best Bets Real Madrid to qualify 4/6 Bayern V Real BTTS 4/7 Charlton v Watford BTTS 4/6 Wigan to score 2 or more goals 10/11 WIgan to beat Birmingham 5/6 Birmingham v Wigan BTTS 4/5 BET 1) Stake 70 Euros Wigan to beat Birmingham 5/6 Returns 128 Euros BET 2) Stake 50 Euros Wigan to score 2 or more goals 10/11 Bayern v Real BTTS 4/7 Returns 140 Euros BET 3) Stake 30 Euros Birmingham v Wigan BTTS 4/5 Charlton v Watford BTTS 4/6 Real Madrid to qualify 4/6 Treble returns 150 euros Bo's Bonkers Bet(s) Bayern 3 v 2 Real Madrid 25/1 Birmingham 2 v 4 Wigan 50/1 Huge game in Germany for Bayern Munich as they look to overturn a 1.0 deficit to Read Madrid in their battle to reach a 4th Champions League final in 5 years.
Carlo Ancelotti will have his Real side well drilled in their favourite counter attacking shape, as they sit deep and look to hurt Bayern on the break and with Ronaldo and Bale they have every chance of finding the net at least once. Bayern have gone right off the boil in the last 6 weeks and are leaking goals in the Bundesliga and tge fact they have sauntered to the title may well have hurt their match form going into such a big tie. It's also worth bearing in mind that no team has retained the Champions League and my feeling is that Real are going to make it through over the night. It is going to be very hard for Real to keep a clean sheet however, so they may well need to score if they are to make it through to next month's final in Lisbon but I am backing them to do just that and emerge victorious over the course of the tie. I think BTTS is highly likely and is priced at 4/7. Real are 4/6 to qualify with Bayern 5/4. I am sticking with my tip(hope) for an all Madrid final next month and I think Real have every chance of completing the first part in what would be the making of an extraordinary final should their neighbours Atletico join them in Portugal. In the Championship, Wigan take on a dreadful Birmingham side at St Andrews where the hosts have failed to win in 16 home games (a lovely new club record) and find themselves on the brink of relegation. Meanwhile Wigan are still not sure of their playoff position and I expect them to take advantage of The Blues and take the 3 points that will secure them a shot at a Premier League cash windfall. Wigan are 21/20 and I may well be backing them in my "Super Single" tomorrow as this price seems far too good to ignore. . I will post my final predictions tomorrow at 2000CET. Unfortunately I have started a new "real job" and my time is now sadly limited during the week, however I will be doing my best to keep breaking the bookies over the final 2 weeks of the season, and get the profits rising again. Rest assured, in 1 month's time, The World Cup will almost be here and Bo will be there to guide you to a summer of World Cup joy. Unless you support England. Bona nit Bo's Bonkers Bet Bayern 3 v 2 Real Madrid - 25/1 It was a very disappointing end to the challenge yesterday as I ended up 165 down over the course of the 2 weeks. I was able to cover one of my losing bets but other than my early bet, it was a frustrating day.
Of course I am still 385 in profit for my first month but changes are needed and I will be freshening up my approach over the final 2-3 weeks in the league seasons across Europe. Here are my final results :( Bo's Daily Double Challenge - 5 out of 11 winners Total Staked - 1115 Total Returned - 1129 Bo's Tasty Treble Challenge - 2 out of 12 winners (Target is 4 out of 14) Total Staked - 685 Total Returned - 456 Bo's Amazing Acca Challenge 2 out of 10 winners Total Staked - 65 euros Total Returned - 124 euros Overall Stake 1865 Overall Returns 1709 NEW OVERALL BALANCE IS 2389 So what changes do I need to make to raise our profits. I feel my "tasty trebles" have been unlucky but also at times, too ambitious and some alterations need to be made. I am considering some different approaches and these will be unveiled in my final challenge for the season, to be revealed shortly. Poor old Liverpool and who would have thought they would fail to score at home for the first time this season but Jose once again lead his Chelsea team into a big game and came out on top. Oh well. Sad times for Liverpool and while I thought they would win, the price was terrible and best avoided but I did think both would score.
What a shame for Liverpool and for Bo as this result failed to land my Daily Double. The 2nd leg of the now redundant double has yet to kick-off so I will add this selection and do a final "daily double" in my challenge. My first bet of the day landed and we await 2 Schalke goals to land the treble. Here is a quick summary of my bets today. Both of my acca's were rather cruelly denied by a single goal in each line. Stokes failure to score against Spurs and Nurnberg at Mainz cost the day. It was good to see the amount of goals scored in the matches I had picked out for goals. The matches at Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Derby, Bournemouth, Sheffield Wednesday, Wolfsburg, and Dundee Utd were all selections where I focused on goals and there were over 3.5 goals in all 6 of those matches, with a whopping 36 goals in the 6 selected matches. While none of our Acca's returned any profit, I did make some pretty good selections today including the following 3 at over 1/1 odds and a total of 12 out of 15 from my 4 main lines. Bayern to beat Werder and BTTS 13/10 - WINNER (FINAL SCORE 5.2) Derby to beat Watford and BTTS 11/5 - WINNER (FINAL SCORE 4.2) Man Utd to score 3 plus goals at 5/4 - Winner (Final Score 4.0) Ok so i'll calm down, it wasn't a perfect day but all in all United were my big success story today and tomorrow we can take the Bo Challenge back into profit for my final day of action. Here are my overall results so far. It's fair to say my Tasty Treble has been the main issue with this challenge and for my end of season Challenge, beginning Monday, we will be making some changes. BTTS is always on the cards when Hoffenheim are in action and of course will be a contender for my double or trebles tomorrow while i expect the same outcome in the 2 other fixtures mentioned. I also expect home wins for Hoffenheim and Wolfsburg who are chasing Leverkusen for the 4th Champions League slot available. In Italy, a revived Inter take on Napoli in a possibly entertaining tie in Milan and BTTS is a possibility with both sides looking to finish the season on a high and both sides are in good form. Cue the 0.0. The action in Spain as ever, for me, on a betting perspective is uneventful but if you must have a bet, Real Madrid will beat Ossasuna but at 1/20, are unbackable. The better option here for me is Benzema to score first and Madrid to win at 7/2 or you can back Real -2 at 4/6 Much of our European focus will be on Sunday with some decent action in Italy, Holland and Spain to consider as well as 2 other fixtures from Germany. As it is rather late, and I need to study more, I will keep it short and sweet. Here are my best selections for the European fixtures tomorrow with final selections posted later today. Home Wins Wolfsburg Hoffenheim Real -2 Away Wins Dortmund E Brauchsweig BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE Hoffenheim v E Frankfurt Leverkusen v Dortmund Bayern v Werder Bremen Inter v Napoli We are entering crunch time across Europe with a whole host of vital matches taking place this weekend as well as a series of less than important matches with little to play for so I will attempt to focus on matches where there are important issues left to be decided,
There are plenty of teams with titles, promotions, relegations and play-off places left to be fought for but at this time of the season, it's hard to find true value as odds shorten on teams who need to win against teams who may have less to play for. Needing to win and actually winning does not correlate as frequently as the bookies often believe and there are some banana skins to be avoided. First to the Premier League, where I expect Everton to continue their Champions League fight by winning at Southampton who are minus Jay Rodriguez and have gone off the boil in recent weeks. BTTS seems like a good possibility, and Everton are good value at 6/4 to win. Everton to win and BTTS is 10/3 The big story of course this week has been the sacking of David Moyes and tomorrow see's the debut of temporary boss Ryan Giggs as his Man Utd side take on relegation threatened Norwich. I fully expect a raucous home crowd to spur United on tomorrow and with Giggs at the helm and Scholes his right hand man, I expect a big reaction from this United team and i see them winning in style against a Norwich side who are especially poor on the road, conceding 4 at Villa, 4 at Southampton and 3 at Swansea in recent weeks. It's been an extraordinary train wreck of a season at Old Trafford and it's hard not to feel sorry for Moyes but with Giggs in charge tomorrow, United should win handsomely. They are 4/11 for the win, but I also like the look of them to win on the handicap at 1/1 even money, and to score 3 goals or more is 5/4. I fancy all 3 quite strongly and they are big contenders to be in my "daily double" The 4 EPL games kicking off at 3pm BST all have the look of games best left ignored in my top selections. I fancy Stoke to beat Tim nice but dim's Spurs, and they are a generous 12/5 to do so. Interestingly, each of the last 5 fixtures between those 2 at the Britania Stadium have finished 2.1. 3 times for Stoke and twice for Spurs and the same outcome could be on the cards again with Stoke my tip to win. Fulham badly need to beat Hull at Craven Cottage and are 11/8 to keep their hopes of survival alive. Hull with their eye on a cup final and having amassed 36 points are unlikely to be fully at the races for this tie and Fulham, under new boss Felix Magath, have improved and I expect those improvements to continue tomorrow. In the 2 other fixtures, Swansea can beat Villa at 7/10 and the West side battle between the Hammers and the Albion is especially hard to predict. Given West Brom's penchant for draws, i will sit firmly on the fence in this one. 9/4 for the draw. In the Championship, the race for 6th place continues tomorrow with 1 playoff place still up for grabs and at least 4 teams still have a chance to claim the final ticket in the Premier League promotion sweepstakes. Reading, Forest, and Ipswich can still catch 6th placed Brighton and the aforementioned 3 are in action tomorrow with Ipswich travelling to Burnley in the early kick-off while Reading visit Doncaster and Forest go to Bournemouth who still have a very outside chance themselves of making it into 6th position. Speaking of outside chances, Watford need a miracle to finish 6th but will give it everything to win at Derby tomorrow and I expect BTTS and over 2.5 goals. I expect BTTS in the Bournemouth/Forest encounter, priced at 4/6 while I think Reading could drop points against a Donny side who do their best work at home while Ipswich are unlikely to get the win they need at promoted Burnley. At the other end of the table, 6 teams could still slip into the final 2 relegation places and with just 2 games to go, tomorrow';s matches could be the death knell for the likes of Barnsley and Blackpool. Barry Ferguson will be hoping his side can take points on the road again as they visit a Wigan side already assured of a play-off place. Wigan are 9/20 to win but I would not be confident in backing them having seen Brighton fail to do the same on Monday against Wee Fergie and Bob Malcolm...really, if you thought Giggs and Scholes was the ultimate managerial partnership, you haven't seen this pair in action. Indeed Malcolm was beating up his own substtiutes before they even kicked a ball and with that kind of passion, who knows what Blackpool can achieve tomorrow. Barnsley will be relegated if they lose tomorrow, but are decent on the road and take a trip to Middlesborough who with nothing to play for and a pretty ordinary home record can't be backed at evens to win. Barnsley at 3/1 are a good outside bet for the win. I will post a seperate preview of the European action but here are my top English selections for tomorrow's matches with my final bets to be posted at 2pm BST later today. HOME WINS Man Utd -1 5/6 Fulham 11/8 Stoke 12/5 AWAY WINS Everton 6/4 Forest 12/5 Barnsley 3/1 BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE Southampton v Everton 8/13 Stoke v Tottenham 8/11 Bournemouth v Forest 8/13 Birmingham v Leeds 8/13 Shef Wed v Bolton 4/6 Derby v Watford 4/7 Same old story in the challenge, some good looking bets falling short and my sensible covering option is really helping us not to slip back further. Last night Real edged Bayern in a tighter game than expected with the away side failing to hit the net for the first time in this competition in over year. Luckily Madrid got an early goal which allowed me to cover and only lose 30 rather than 100.

In Portugal I expect a very close, low scoring affair which I expect to end in a 1.1 draw. Juventus are not explosive but are very hard to break down and while Benfica are particularly strong at home, I can only see a draw in this match. The bookies expect Sevilla to beat Valencia tonight, and they are a best priced 7/10 but again, with it being a semi final, I expect another close encounter and a draw is a real possibility. So, there will be no double or treble today but here is my amazing acca, which while having acca odds, is in fact, a rather simple double! Speculative small bets for what are sure to be tight, low scoring affairs although I believe Sevilla v Valencia has more potential for goals than the game in Portugal. Either way, keep stakes low and save our doubles and trebles for the weekend. BO'S AMAZING ACCA Small stake (5 Euro) Benfica v Juventus draw 9/4 Sevilla v Valencia draw 13/5 Double pays at 11.5/1 BO'S BONKERS BET Benfica 1 v 1 Juventus Sevilla 1 v 1 Benfica Correct score double pays at 41/1 The front page of Spanish daily sports newspaper Marca describes this showdown as "the night of champions". They Claimed Ronaldo would start and indeed he does and that's all the clarification I need to do my 1 bet for the day.
"BO'S DAILY DOUBLE" (NOT A DOUBLE TODAY, BUT WE WILL LOOK TO ADD THE POTENTIAL WINNINGS TO A SELECTION TOMORROW NIGHT) STAKE 100 EUROS Real Madrid v Bayern BTTS - 1/2 Returns 150 Euros I know last night's semi final may put anyone off betting on goals but it is impossible to see this game taking the same route and I fancy Real to edge the night 2.1. Their record in Germany is awful, and they know full well if they are going through in this tie, they need to win tonight. With Ronaldo fit, I believe they will do just that but as Bayern almost always score, BTTS looks a banker for me. Good luck Ronnie Bo's Bonkers Bet (not so bonkers) Real Madrid 2 v 1 Bayern Munich Apologies for my absence yesterday due to unforseen circumststances and given that there was a minimal card, I decided to avoid any bets although the 0.0 in Madrid was rather predictable given Jose's pension for parking the bus. Job done for Chelsea and on to another drab 2nd leg no doubt.
Anyways, here are my results for Monday's action DAILY DOUBLE - BET 7 OUT OF 14 STAKE = 4.6%OF BANKROLL 100 EUROS Ipswich v Bournemouth BTTS - 8/13 final score 2.2 won Brighton to beat Blackpool - 4/9 final score 1.1 lost As I have advised in the past, it is essential to cover your bet if you get the chance and that's what I did here with my first selection already a winner, Brighton took the lead against Blackpool, and at that moment I was able to put 25 euros on Blackpool or draw at 4/1 odds to make sure I got my stake back in the event of an equalizer. Indeed they equalised within 2 minutes! and I was lucky enough to walk away with my stake back. But very dissappointing result considering this selection should have been Birmingham v Blackburn BTTS. Never be talked out of bets that look good on the stats is the lesson learned. As I broke even on this bet, I will void it from my totals and use the stake money for a repeat "daily double" FINAL STAKE 125 RETURNED 125 ( BO'S TASTY TREBLE - BET 10 OUT OF 14 STAKE - 50 EUROS Peterboro to beat Carlisle - 4/6 - won 3.0 Leeds v N Forest - BTTS - 4/7 lost - final score 0.2 Once again, I was able to cover this bet having seen my first selection come through, my late kick off at leeds got off to the best start with Forest scoring inside 2 minutes. At this point, I was able to stake 15 euros on Both teams NOT to score. The pre match odds of 4/7 quickly shortened to 1/5 on BTTS and this meant 7/2 odds on both teams not to score. This allowed for me to either make 70 euros profit, or end up even...and once again it was a disappointment as Leeds failed to score but I got my stake back. Once again, the benefit of cover betting and having staggered kickoffs for these types of bets is evident. FINAL STAKE 65 RETURNED 65 AMAZING ACCA 1 Birmingham v Blackburn - BTTS, 4/7 Millwall to beat Doncaster - 17/20 Watford not to lose against QPR - 7/10 Derby v Barnsley - BTTS 4/5 Acca Returns at 8/1 LOST (2 OUT OF 4 CORRECT) AMAZING ACCA 2 Ipswich v Bournemouth BTTS 8/13 Leeds v Forest - BTTS 8/13 Burnley v Wigan - BTTS 4/5 Shef Wed to beat Charlton 21/20 Lost (1 out of 4) Acca pays 10/1 BTTS AND WIN ACCA (SMALL STAKES FOR BIG REWARDS) Forest to beat Leeds and BTTS - 15/4 Ipswich to beat Bournemouth and BTTS - 10/3 Derby to beat Barnsley and BTTS - 2/1 Treble pays at 60/1 ( lost 1 out of 3) So a day of frustration but only 10 euros lost to my amazing accas. There is only 1 match this evening in the Champions League clash between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, and I will attempt to post a preview for this later coupled with a preview of tomorrow's Europa League action. It is possible we will do a "daily double" split over the two day's action. DAILY DOUBLE - BET 7 OUT OF 14

The Easter weekend has always been a manic time of the year in England with teams playing twice in the space of 48 hours and this has to be factored in when considering the markets today. There are seldom any bankers in The Championship and with the lack of recovery time to be factored in, the logical conclusion is to again look for goals and not winners. There are 1 or 2 teams I expect to win tomorrow, including Brighton at home to a desperate Barry Ferguson lead Blackpool, and Derby at home to relegation threatened Barnsley. I also fancy Watford to take the points in their trip to QPR.but caution will be heeded with surprises likely across the board. However as I mentioned, goals will be my focus again today and there are 3 games which look highly promising based on the statistical analysis. Firstly, Ipswich play host to Bournemouth in what is bound to be a cup tie style encounter with both sides still holding ambitions on reaching the final playoff position and the recent stats would seem to back up the likelyhood of BTTS at 8/13. Ipswich have had BTTS in 12 of their last 16 home matches while Bournemouth have seen BTTS in their last 6 outings in the division. Both sides are desperate for the points and I can see an open, exciting, end to end battle and BTTS has to have a good chance. Next on my agenda is the tie between Birmingham and Blackburn at St Andrews. Historically, these teams have produced a BTTS match on 11 out of 12 previous meetings while current form suggests this trend can continue today with Blackburn's last 4 away games producing 22 goals and BTTS in all 4. Indeed 7 of their last 10 on the road have had BTTS. Birmingham meanwhile have had 7 of their last 8 games resulting in BTTS with each of their last 6 at home having the same outcome. BTTS is priced at 8/13 and once again would seem to have a very good chance. Finally, Leeds against Forest is one that I am slightly less confident in but history again suggests this is a match that guarantees goals. In their last 5 encounters, BTTS has occurred on each occasion with a remarkable 27 goals in those encounters including 18 in the last 3 meetings at Elland Road. Indeed 9 of their last 10 meetings have had BTTS. Current form would also suggest BTTS has a very high likelyhood with 7 of Forest's last 10 away fixtures ending with BTTS and 4 of Leeds last 6 at home. The price of 4/7 is still good value for what looks like a possible goal fest in Leeds and I fancy Forest to win as well. BTTS and away win is 15/4 There are plenty of other fixtures to consider, and I will post my final selections later on today but I will more than likely ignore the encounter between Man City and West Brom which looks like a home win all day long but I am pretty sure we had the same feeling last Monday! *One final point, i will be adding (for fun) some BTTS and win selections. This is a very exciting and popular market as 3 selections or above can yield a high return. Similar to my "Bonkers Bet" this will be a purely for fun selection and I will post an example for tomorrow below. Happy Easter Monday BTTS Shortlist Leeds v Forest Ipswich v Bournemouth Birmingham v Blackburn Top Home Selections Derby Millwall Brighton Peterborough Top Away Selections Nottingham Forest Watford BTTS and Win (Here we are predicting matches with BTTS and the winner of the match) Forest to beat Leeds and BTTS - 15/4 Ipswich to beat Bournemouth and BTTS - 10/3 Millwall to beat Doncaster and BTTS - 10/3 Treble pays at 76/1 A decent enough day with 50 Euro profit overall, and my predictions at Liverpool were especially accurate and what a shame Suarez could not grab that 4th goal at the death. This would have been 2 Sunday's in a row for my Bonkers Bet to come up with Liverpool and they are so much fun to watch (and bet on) and are clearly going to win the league for the first time in 24 years. Remarkable stuff.

I still have 8 "Daily Doubles" to come however and if we can keep the form here, we will be back in profit for the challenge. I will complete The Bo Challenge this week and I remain optimistic we can finish this period in profit. however I will be making some changes for my final end of season challenge upcoming at the end of this week. Liverpool have rattled 18 goals in their 4 previous meetings with Norwich in the last 2 years with tormentor in chief Luis Suarez netting 11 times in five meetings including three hat-tricks. The Norwich defense must be having nightmares tonight in anticpation of their lunchtime kick off tomorrow, and things could yet get a whole lot worse for the Canaries. It is hard to argue against a Liverpool win, however Norwich have been reasonably strong at home this season, losing only 5 in 17, including only 1 in their last 6, keeping 4 clean sheets in the process, most notably including in a 0,0 with Man City. However this is a Liverpool side on the verge of something truly remarkable and I expect them to hold their nerve tomorrow and serve up another dose of reality for a Norwich side in deep trouble at the foot of the table. Liverpool are 4/11 to win and 5/6 on the handicap. I like the look of both and Luis Suarez is a best priced 4/7 to hit the net at anytime and with Daniel Sturridge missing, the focus will be on the Uruguayan to keep their incredible run of victories going (10 as it stands) and I can see Liverpool winning this 3.1 with Suarez and Gerrard my tips to find the net. There are 2 other important matches in the race for 4th place as Arsenal travel to Hull in a Cup Final dress rehearsal and Everton "welcome" home their flounding former boss David Moyes as United look to continue their impressive away form with Everton chasing 3 points to keep the pressure on Arsenal in the race for 4th place. Two tough matches to predict but I would not be surprised to see Arsenal stutter again and BTTS at 5/6 looks a good shout. Arsenal should have enought to edge it over a Hull side who are almost safe but I sure wouldn't be putting my life on it. At Goodison, I expect BTTS and so do the bookies with this best priced at 8/13. I expect a really open, exciting contest between two sides with it all to prove. A high scoring draw is a possible outcome and it is very hard to split these two, considering United's excellent away form and Everton's assaunt on 4th place. On the continent, Barcelona need the points at home to Athletic Bilbao but at 2/7 I will be ignoring the fallen giant's in this one but I do expect them to win as the Camp Nou remains a fortress with the Catalans winning 30 out of 31 in the league at home in the past 2 seasons. Still, their form has rarely been worse and Bilbao are a good side. BTTS at 8/13 is an option and I can see a close, high scoring encounter. In Germany, I expect BTTS in the match at Stuttgart with Schalke coming to town. 8/15 for this outcome and the stats back it up with goals aplenty for both outfits this season. Both have a lot to play for at either end of the table and it should be a fine contest. All in all, it's The Premier League tomorrow for the big action and I will post my final selections shortly. Well it was a day of small profit and with hindsight, I should have left out my second "tasty treble" but anyway, the main bet came home without any problems as both the away sides Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim scored within 2 minutes to settle the nerves. Had Birmingham managed a goal at Forest, it would have been a day of over 100 euro profit, but we still made 25 euros and any day in profit is an improvement given my poor week.
We also dodged the Chelsea bullet but I was frustrated to see more than a few of my considered selections coming home. In any case, we move on and here are my results from Saturday. There is a full card in Italy where I expect to see goals in Rome, where Lazio entertain Torina and in Parma where Inter come to town. Other fixtures of note include Fiorentina at home to Roma in the evening kick-off which promises to be closely fought. It is however in Germany that the focus of my attention is diverted with old favourites Hoffenheim heading to Bremen and Hamburg hosting Wolfsburg. Quite simply both games have BTTS written all over them both in a historical context and in terms of recent league form. Stastically, Hoffenheim's visit to Bremen screams out BTTS. Ths fixture has seen BTTS in each of their last 8 meetings, while BTTS has occurred in 5 of Hoffeheims last 6 away fixtures, and 5 out of 6 of Bremen's last 6 home games. Those stats are too good to ignore and if you need a little more convincing, there have been 45 goals in Bremen's 15 home fixtures this season and they have the worst defense at home in the league, conceding 29 goals in the process. By contrast, Hoffenheim have the 3rd highest total for away goals in the league, while conceding the 3rd highest amount in the process. Convinced yet? The price of 4/11 is the shortest you are ever likely to see but it looks nailed on and just cannot be ignored, as it would seem In Hamburg with Wolfsburg the visitors. Historically, this fixture has yielded BTTS in each of the last 6 meetings in Hamburg with 10 out of the last 12 resulting in BTTS. Current form would suggest the trend is set to continue with BTTS occurring in each of Wolfsburg's last 6 away matches and in the last 4 of Hamburg's home fixtures. The price of 1/2 reflects this but will not deter me, I also have my eye on a weakened Bayern Munich heading to bottom of the table Brauschweig who despite their lowly position are in tremendous form at home, unbeaten in 5, winning 3 and scoring in each of their last 6 home games. Of course I was stung on picking out a BTTS last week when Bayern incredibly failed to hit the back of the net against Augsburg in their 1.0 defeat. Surely not again? The price of 4/5 on BTTS looks good and is certainly a strong consideration. The fixtures in England are limited at best. I fancy BTTS in the early kick-off between Tottenham and Fulham but with it being an early start, I will leave it out. I would not be surprised to see Fulham take the points, and they are 11/2 to pull of the upset. Under Sherwood Spurs are a comedy and Fulham have improved greatly under the wily Felix Magath and should score and possibly earn a point. Other fixtures include Cardiff hosting Stoke in a last chance saloon encounter for Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer and Aston Villa welcome Southampton minus the injured Jay Rodriguez while Chelsea should see off Sunderland at the Bridge. Newcastle's home tie with Swansea is not worth a bet, but the Swans could well float away with 3 points and finally in the top flight, West Ham host Palace in a sort of dead rubber fixture where goals could be at a premium. Not much stands out from any of those fixtures, even Chelsea who should be nailed on to beat Sunderland at 1/5 but my memory is not that short! Sunderland perform much better against the better teams and might make it tough for Chelsea but given The Blues remarkable home form under The Special One, a home victory with a clean sheet is the expected outcome. There are 1 or 2 fixtures in the Championship to consider but overall it is a day where home wins and bankers are limited and my search for tomorrow is based purely on goals. I will post my final selections later today. A Daily Double, Tasty Treble and Amazing Acca to follow. I will also include a reduced stake Tasty Treble. Early Shortlist Werder Bremen v Hoffenheim BTTS 4/11 Hamburg v Wolfsburg BTTS 1/2 Brauchsweig v Bayern BTTS 4/5 Lazio v Torino BTTS 8/11 Parma v Inter BTTS 4/5 Nottingham Forest v Birmingham BTTS 4/6 |
