It's a particularly quiet evening with only 3 friendlies in Europe to consider including Scotland's clash with Northern Ireland at Hampden Park. I'm not a big fan of betting on friendlies so I will be keeping the stakes low before the weekend action. Here are my brief previews and best bets for Wednesday. 20.45 - Scotland v Northern Ireland - Prediction - 2.0 - Best Bets, Scotland to win @4/5, Scotland -1 @11/8, Scotland to score 2 or more goals @11/10, Scotland to win to nil @7/4
I've spoken enough about Scotland in the last couple of days but needless to say i am confident for the visit of Northern Ireland tonight. Scotland have little to worry about ahead of their weekend qualifier at home to Gibraltar while Northern Ireland face a much harder task in their vital trip to Finland and with one eye on that big game, they might operate at less than 100% tonight, while I expect Scotland to control the pace and tempo of the game as they try to ready themselves for a goal chase against the minnows Gibraltar on Sunday. Northern Ireland haven't won a friendly in 9 years and lost 3.0 in their last visit to Scotland 4 years ago although they have won 3 of their 4 qualifiers so far in this campaign and do come into this fixture with more confidence than they have had in a while. Still, I expect another good performance from Scotland who have lost only 2 from their last 11 with only Germany and England good enough to beat this improving side who have kept a clean sheet in each of their last 4 home fixtures. I expect Scotland to set a good tempo and edge ahead before half time and with plenty of changes in the 2nd half, I am confident Scotland can control the pace of the game and get at the Irish who do have a much more important game to contend with at the weekend. Scotland's price is shorting but I'm confident in all 4 of the bets highlighted with Scotland to win @4/5 the most likely outcome. 20.30 - Germany v Australia, - Prediction -3.0 - Best Bet - Germany to win -1, @1/2 Germany to score 3 or more goals @4/6 Group rivals to Scotland, the Germans have not been at their best in the qualifiers and having lost in Poland and held at home to Ireland they need to find their form quickly or they could end up in a rat race for a qualification spot in a very competitive group with the Scots, Poland and Ireland. A weekend trip to Georgia should be simple enough for the world champions but they will want to get their shooting boots back on inand find some more fluidity in their play in preparation for a must win fixture at the weekend. I have to expect them to manage it against an ordinary Australian outfit who are without their talisman Tim Cahill and who tend to leak the goals when they take on the top teams in world football. Australia have played a lot of football together in recent months, however they will do well to keep out the Germans here and I am confident in the -1 @1/2 odds. 20.15 - Denmark v USA - Prediction 2.2 - Best Bets - BTTS@5/6 The least attractive of the 3 games for my best bets today but i do like the chances of BTTS @5/6 for this one. 10 of the USA's last 13 fixtures have seen BTTS including 5 of their last 6 which were all friendlies while Denmark's matches seem to result in BTTS when they are up against a side at a similar level which is exactly what the US are here. I expect BTTS and a possible draw here although I am likely to focus on the other 2 games for my doubles today. Come on Scotland! Best Bets in order of confidence Scotland to beat Northern Ireland @4/5 Germany to beat Australia -1 @1/2 Scotland to score 2 or more goals @1/1 Scotland to win to nil @7/4 Germany to score 3 or more goals @ Denmark v USA - BTTS @5/6 Comments are closed.
