Tuesday – European Preview
There’s a full card in the English leagues tonight and I will post a separate preview on this action, as well as 5 crucial Champions League fixtures to consider in a busy night while we also have a super cup clash in Spain as Real and Atletico go head to head at the extraordinarily late hour of 1100pm CET At this early stage of the season it is of course almost impossible to pick matches based on form, what with there being so little of it so therefore it is important to make small, sensible bets in these opening weeks before we get a real feel for the action and this is especially relevant in the increasingly unpredictable and highly competitive English championship where anyone can beat anyone on any given day. My main focus this season will be on the weekend matches in the EPL and the other big leagues across Europe so you won’t see too many big bets on lower league football but with that being said, we all enjoy a little flutter so you will see lots of my “Bookie Busters” on these matches where we look to make big wins from small stakes. For example, my 4 draws which pays usually at 125/1 only needs to win once every 2 years for it to make a profit and at the weekend, our first selection delivered 2 out of 4 and was moments away from a full house had it not been for late penalty drama at hull and west ham. I will also change the daily double to my deadly double (Essentially the same but recognising that I will not be doing one on a “daily” basis. Pedantic yes. Ok, so on to the action in tonight’s Champions League qualifiers and for Arsenal, tonight they face a big task in the shape of Turkish outfit Besiktas who dispatched Feyenoord in the last round thanks to a hat-trick from new man, Demba Ba, recruited from Chelsea and I expect the Turks to present a serious threat to Arsenal’s ambitions of making yet another Champions League. This time last year many were predicting doom for Wenger’s men as they faced another Turkish opponent in Fenerbahce but any fears were soon put to bed as the Gunners cruised to a 3.0 win in Istanbul but I have a feeling tonight’s affair is going to be that much harder for Arsenal who looked less than impressive in edging past Crystal Palace at the Emirates 2.1 while Besiktas were pretty impressive in defeating Feyenoord both home and away although it should be noted that this was a Feyenoord side who had lost their entire defence to summer transfers. I expect only one outcome tonight and BTTS is my sure fire pick for this clash and is priced at a very tasty 5/6. Arsenal themselves are 7/10 to win and this looks far too short in my book. I expect a score draw with Arsenal having to work extremely hard to get a positive result to take home to London. Consider Ramsey to score at anytime at 15/8 while Ba looks overpriced at 13/5 for the Turks. In the other Champions League action. Red Bull Salzburg should blow away Malmo at home and while they are only ¼ to do so, I expect them to win with a goal to spare and backing them on the handicap at 8/13 looks the best shout. Ateltico Bilbao travel to Naples in a very tasty looking tie and I quite fancy the BTTS action again here at a good price of 5/6 again and if you fancy something a wee bit bigger, I can see a home win to go with the BTTS and you can get 3/1 on Napoli winning with both teams scoring. Higuain is 6/5 to get on the score sheet. The other 2 ties see Leverkusen travel to Copenhagen and Steaua Bucharest entertain FC Ludogorets and both of these ties are best avoided although I do fancy away day success for both Leverkusen and the underdogs Ludogorets. Finally in Spain, at 1100pm (Seriously Spain, 1100pm...why?) we have Real and Atletico going head to head at the Bernabeu and I expect some goals to go with a home win. Real are 8/13 to deliver a first leg advantage on the La Liga Champions but I fancy 9/4 on the Real win/BTTS double. If you are looking for an anytime goalscorer, Gareth Bale is 13/10 and Ronaldo, odds on of course but at a pretty good price of 5/6. There should be some decent action tonight and I will post my final bets later this afternoon. Comments are closed.
