It's another busy day in the Championship and I'm focusing on about half of the fixtures on offer with my decision to spend more time on fewer games paying off so far this season with 55 points of profit in the opening 3 weeks. The season is still young so goals are the way to go for me with the form and current stats still short in supply and that's my theme for today and will be for much of the season to come. Here are the suggested bets for the best of the Championship action today. Championship
13:05 Derby vs Leeds - Prediction - 1.1 Suggested Bets - Draw @ 14/5, BTTS @ 5/6 I don't like early kick-offs but a draw could be the bet to have with neither side winning a game so far this season and Derby still struggling to adapt to their new manager Paul Clement's methods. Derby have drawn 6 of their last 7 league games including 3 from 4 this season, and Leeds each of their last 5 so you have to like the 14/5 on the draw while goals are also possible when you look at the stats. The hosts have just 1 clean sheet from their last 7 home league games while Leeds have managed to score in 11 of their last 13 away league ties. BTTS is a decent 5/6. 16:00 Nottingham Forest vs Cardiff - Prediction 2.2- Suggested Bets - BTTS @4/5 Goals look likely here with Cardiff visiting Nottingham and the stats are on our side for BTTS priced @ 4/5. 7 of Forest's last 10 at home have seen BTTS with 9 of their last 11 overall resulting in the same outcome. A 0.0 draw with Charlton in their last home match was hopefully only an anomaly and I don't expect a repeat here with Caridff a more attacking team than Charlton and Forest do usually score at home having managed that in 16 of their last 20 at home. Further confidence can be taken from Cardiff's record of BTTS with each of their last 8 away league games finishing with both sides scoring. They have also managed a goal in 15 of their last 16 away games in the Championship and given that they won 2.1 at Forest as recently as May, the chances are favourable on another BTTS here. The other fixture between the 2 sides last season also went with BTTS and I am confident it will happen again here @4/5 odds. 16:00 Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Charlton - Prediction - 2.2 - Suggested bet - BTTS @5/6, Draw @5/2 Wolves are 17/20 odds on favourites to beat Charlton here but I'm not convinced and I fancy the tempting BTTS odds with Charlton an under-rated side. While the visitors are rarely involved in high scoring away games, with each of their last 5 on the road finishing under 2.5 goals but 3 of those did see BTTS and they are a capable bunch under the experienced Belgian boss, Guy Luzon with only 2 losses from their last 8 away fixtures in the league. Last year Wolves were a strong, attacking team that narrowly missed out on the play-offs, mostly due to their leaky defence. Each of their last 5 at home have seen BTTS, 3 at the tail end of last season and 2 more at the start of this. 9 goals leaked in 5 fixture with 0 clean sheets tells it's own story and while they should improve in coming weeks, it might not start today. Given Wolves attacking record, scoring in 15 of their previous 16 home fixtures, and Charlton's decent away form, I fancy a share of the spoils with BTTS @5/6 representing a decent price. 16:00 Ipswich vs Brighton - Prediction -2.1 - Suggested Bets - BTTS @5/6 I'm expecting a close encounter here but with the potential for goals as the top 2 in the division clash with both sides unbeaten records on the line. Ipswich are kings of the BTTS market in recent months with 12 of their last 13 league fixtures resulting in my favoured outcome and while much of that happened last season, they have continued the trend with 5 out of 6 fixtures so far this season also seeing BTTS although their last home league fixture did finish 2.0 to the home side. Brighton arrive unbeaten and vastly improved on last season's side and given their form and Ipswich's leaky nature I do fancy them to score in what will surely be a closely fought match between two sides in top form. Ipswich are 6/5 for the win, and while they might just edge it, with Freddie Sears in red hot form with 4 goals and 4 assists this season, I feel Brighton are capable of taking something or at least scoring, so I'll take the 5/6 on offer for BTTS. 16:00 Huddersfield vs Queens Park Rangers - Prediction 2.2- Suggested Bets - BTTS @ 4/6, , BTTS and over 2.5 @21/20, Draw @ 5/2 BTTS is possible here with 10 of Hudderfields last 14 home fixtures, and each of their last 5 home games producing BTTS and we might see another one here with QPR the visitors today. QPR have seen 15 goals scored in their last 3 fixtures with BTTS in all 3 and while they look impressive going forward, they have conceded 2 in each of their last 4 league games and it would be a surprise if they kept a clean sheet having done so just once on the road last season, albeit in the higher division. The hosts have drawn each of their last 4 at home and have lost only 1 of their last 11 league games, drawing a remarkable 7 of their last 8 and i'm going for a repeat today with goals likely. 16:00 Rotherham vs Fulham - Prediction 1.2- Suggested Bets - BTTS @8/11, BTTS and over 2.5 @6/5 As you can see with my selections I'm concentrating on goals and this is my final pick for the Championship with stats suggesting BTTS is quite possible @8/11 between 2 sides still searching for a first win this season. 8 of Rotherham's last 10 home league fixtures resulted in BTTS and while they look set for a hard season near the bottom of the league, they are capable of scoring here against a leaky Fulham having scored at least once in 10 of their last 11 home ties. Fulham have seen BTTS in each of their 4 fixtures so far this season and going back to last season they have seen 10 of their last 11 league games all finishing with BTTS. Given the desperation of both sides to get their first win of the season, I fancy an open game with goals likely and I'm going for BTTS @8/11 and BTTS and over 2.5 goals @6/5 with both sides seeing over 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 6 fixtures. Suggested Bets Forest v Cardiff - BTTS @4/5 Ipswich v Brighton - BTTS @5/6 Wolves v Charlton - BTTS @5/6 Huddersfield v QPR = BTTS @4/6, BTTS and over 2.5 goals @21/20 Rotherham v Fulham - BTTS @ 8/11, BTTS and over 2.5 goals @6/5 Derby v Leeds - BTTS @5/6 Dour Draws Derby v Leeds Huddersfield v QPR Wolves v Charlton Comments are closed.
