We have a busy afternoon of football in Italy this Saturday and as ever, @bobreaksbookies has taken a close look at the best of the action on offer. Game of the day comes from Milan with Inter welcoming Lazio to the San Siro with goals expected from two attack minded outfits while in the earlier kick-offs, Udinese travel to Bologna and Sampdoria welcome SPAL to Genoa. 14:00 Bologna vs Udinese – Prediction 1.2 Current Form
Past Meetings
Final Verdict - Goals have a chance This isn't a fixture that immediately screams out goals but a closer look at the stats reveals that this game has a good chance of going over 2.5 goals at attractive 11/10 odds against with both sides seeing that outcome in a high percentage of their recent matches. Udinese are certainly in the better form but they won’t have happy memories of their most recent trip to Bologna having suffered a 4.0 thumping last time around, but having won 3 in a row on the road in recent weeks, the men from Udine will be confident of collecting a 4th successive away victory against an inconsistent opponent. Bologna have seen 78% of their home matches since March going over 2.5 goals with Udinese seeing the same proportion of their away games also going over 2.5 goals since March so we have to say that 11/10 odds against is pretty good value for this market and that's my selection in this mid-table clash from Serie A. You would imagine that both would need to score for us to reach 3 goals in this match but Bologna did win 4.0 in their last home match against Udinese but given recent form, the visitors will be confident of going home with a point or better here. The BTTS stats are pretty decent as well and I fancy both outcomes here with the preference lying in the over 2.5 goals selection. Best Bets Over 2.5 goals @11/10 – 2.5 stars BTTS @10/11 – 2 stars 14:00 Sampdoria vs SPAL 2013 - Prediction 2.1 Current Form
Final Verdict – BTTS has a good chance 12 points separate these two sides but it is the visitors that come into this fixture in the better form and I fancy them to make life difficult for a Sampdoria side that have suffered a slump in recent weeks having made such an impressive start to the league campaign under Marco Giampaolo. Sampdoria have not won any of their last 5 in the league having won 5 of the previous 6 but the visit of Serie A debutants SPAL gives them a decent opportunity to get back to winning ways against an opponent that has lost 6 of their last 8 away league matches. SPAL have seen BTTS in each of their last 6 on the road though, and in 11 of their last 13 most recent matches and I expect that outcome here with Sampdoria struggling defensively, conceding 13 goals in their last 6 Serie A contests. Samp did put up a brave fight in their 3.2 loss at Napoli in their most recent league outing so they will be confident of delivering the 3 points for an expectant crowd in Genoa but the visitors have shown they are not to be underestimated, and I fancy them to score in a match where Sampdoria would surely expect to score themselves with SPAL not keeping a clean sheet in any of their last 8 on the road. With this being the first meeting ever between these two sides, we don't have any history to support the selection but recent form suggests BTTS has a good chance @7/10 with Sampdoria slight favourites to get the win in front of their own fans. Best Bets – BTTS @7/10 – 3 stars 17:00 Inter vs Lazio – Prediction 2.3 - NAP Selections below Current Form
Past Meetings
Final Meeting – Goals, goals and more goals in Milan We should be in for a really cracking contest from the San Siro as Inter welcome Lazio to Milan in a fixture that has in recent seasons proved to be one of the more compelling in the Serie A calendar with goals and drama to be expected. Both sides have gone off the boil somewhat in recent matches however, but on the road, Lazio matches always seem to go over 2.5 goals with each of their last 14 producing that outcome and you would have to expect a similar result here with each of their last 8 meetings in Milan also going over 2.5 goals. Over 2.5 goals is priced @7/10 and looks like a solid selection considering the form of both sides but especially that of the Romans who have seen an average of 4.1 goals scored in their last 13 away matches in all competitions. BTTS also looks good with recent form suggesting both will hit the net. Lazio have not failed to score in any away match this season while Inter have not failed to score in any match at home in Serie A and only once in their last 37 at home! BTTS is short but fair @4/7 and I fancy both selections very strongly in this top of the table clash from Italy. Lazio really are a strong outfit on the road, and having scored 2 or more in 85% of their away matches over the last 10 months, I fancy them to repeat the trick here at the tasty price of 11/8 against. Inter have gone a bit flat lately, crashing to a 3.1 home loss to Udinese in their last home outing while a midweek defeat after 120 minutes against local rivals Milan in the Coppa Italia will have done nothing to boost their confidence or indeed their energy levels as they come into this crucial fixture and for that reason, I give the edge to the visitors who have managed to win 7 of their last 9 away league matches and have won twice in the last 3 seasons in Milan against the Nerazzurri. Goals seem inevitable here with BTTS @4/7 my safest selection in a match that really looks like it should produce at least 3 goals as well @7/10 odds. With so many of their past meetings producing both outcomes, there is surely a high propensity for goals in this tea-time kick-off from Serie A. Best Bets BTTS @4/7. 4 Stars - NAP BTTS and over 2.5 goals @20/21 – 3 stars Lazio to score 2 or more @6/4 – 2 stars Lazio or draw @4/6 - 3 stars Comments are closed.
