The Premier League makes its long awaited return this evening as Arsenal welcome Leicester to the Emirates in what should be an entertaining contest. With the Bundesliga, La Liga and Serie A still a week short of their returns, we will be keeping our selections to a minimum this week and indeed in the coming weeks as we wait to see some early form develop. I am very much in favour of a patient approach at the start of the season with so many changes taking place over what has been a hectic summer across Europe. Here then are my quick previews for the best of the Premier League fixtures this weekend. Premier League
Friday 20:00 Arsenal v Leicester - Prediction 2.1 Best Bets - BTTS @4/5 Leicester finished the season strongly and they seem to have invested wisely with Ineacho (spell check please) arriving from Man City and Harry Maguire from Hull the stand-out signings. The hosts begin their 312th season under Arsene Wenger and will fancy their chances of a home win with new signings Lacazette and Kolasanic looking like particularly good investments and while I expect the same, I won't be backing the hosts with BTTS looking good @4/5 odds. Saturday 12:30 Watford vs Liverpool - Prediction 1.2 Best Bets - BTTS @10/11 15:00 Everton vs Stoke - Prediction 2.0 Best Bets - Home win @ 7/10 15:00 Chelsea vs Burnley - Prediction - 2.0 15:00 Southampton vs Swansea - Prediction - 1.1 15:00 Crystal Palace vs Huddersfield - Prediction 2.2 Best Bets - BTTS @17/20, Draw @11/4 Huddersfield could prove the surprise package of the weekend as they travel to a Palace side that come into this season with new manager Frank De Boer looking to install a more adventurous approach to his Eagles side but I expect some early struggles for the Dutch coach with PL new boys Huddersfield desperate to get off to a flyer in their debut season in this the 25th anniversary of the Premier League. The visitors have an exciting young manager in David Wagner and I expect them to play with an adventure and boldness that could give them a fighting chance of staying in the division. I fancy BTTS @ and while I'm tipping a 2.2 draw, I won't be bolder than the BTTS selection but this one could certainly finish level with Palace not particularly strong at home last season. 15:00 West Bromwich Albion vs Bournemouth - Prediction -1.1 1500 Rangers vs Hibs - Prediction - 3.2 Best Bets - BTTS @ 8/11, BTTS and over 2.5 goals @5/4 Rangers welcome Hibs to Ibrox in what could be a cracker with Neil Lennon's Hibs sure to receive a warm welcome to the west end of Glasgow as Rangers look to pick up back to back wins in the Premier League following their opening day success at Motherwell. Progress has certainly been made by the Gers since their insanely poor defeat at Luxembourg Minnows, the other Progres, of Nierderkorn and they should be confident of claiming the spoils and while I do fancy a home win, I expect both to score and this one to go over 2.5 goals so lets try both of those picks here. 17:30 Brighton vs Manchester City - Prediction - 0.2 Best Bets Watford vs Liverpool - BTTS @10/11 Rangers vs Hibs - BTTS @ 8/11 Palace vs Huddersfiled - BTTS @17/20 Everton to win @ 7/10 Comments are closed.
