It's Friday again and as is the way these days, we have a few live TV games to look at across the continent as punters look to enjoy a delicious entree before the regular weekend fare is served up. My attention has been drawn to the beautiful port city of Marseille for tonight's Ligue 1 fixture with Caen the visitors to the Stade Veledrome in a game that throws up some interesting goals statistics. For the 3rd week running, Rangers return to our TV screens on a Friday with a visit to 4th placed Falkirk in an important clash in the Scottish Championship while in Germany, Bayern welcome FC Koln to the space ship that is the imperious Allianz Arena. My local team, Espanyol entertain Cordoba in La Liga and I will take a look at this one, despite my indifference towards the league and it's lack of goals.
On nights like these it can be easier to find winners with so few games to look at but as ever, I am not so keen on parting with too much of my weekend bankroll on a Friday night so stakes will be low for these, simply because it's Friday and I'm a bit of a tight sod. Here are the fixtures and previews for tonight's action. KO 20.30 CET - FC Bayern v FC Cologne- Prediction 3.0 - Best Bet - Bayern to score over 2.5 goals @4/6 How many? that's the only question we need to ask as Bayern entertain Koln st home in what should as ever be a routine home win. Bayern romped past Hamburg, pulling their pants down in an 8.0 spanking that left the visitors with the worst defeat in their history and maintained Bayerns lead at the top, a seemingly unassailable 8 points. Koln though are expected to put up a stronger resistance however and they have a pretty decent record on the road, and with Bayern being as short as 1/10, they only way to back them is on the handicap. They are 2/5 to win by more than 1, and 21/20 to win by more than 2. The stats tell us that Bayern have won by more than 2 goals in 5 out of 11 home games this season and interestingly, in all of those games, they actually won by 3 or more goals. Of course, i do expect them to cover the -2 but a safer bet might be over 2.5 team goals at 4/6 odds which allows for the possibility of a Koln goal and when you look at Koln, they have only lost by more than 1 goal once on the road, in their 5.1 defeat at Leverkusen. It should be routine but I am going to go with Bayern -1 at 2/5 and to score over 2.5 goals at 4/6 rather than the riskier -2 option. KO 20.30 CET - Marseille v Caen - Prediction 3.1- Best Bet - BTTS @ 4/5, over 2.5 goals @13/20 and Marseille to score 2 or more goals - 1/2 Title chasing Marseille welcome Caen to the Stade Velodrome in a game that has a few interesting stats and betting opportunities. Marseille have been free scoring this season, scoring 2 or more in all but 2 of their home games and the first of those was the first day of the season. You can get 1/2 on Marseille to score 2 or more again. Caen's away form would back this bet up, given that they have not kept a clean sheet in their last 8 away games, conceding 18 in that period, including 5 at Guingamp and 3 at Lyon and Metz. They do however score goals, hitting the net on 6 of their last 8 away games, and 9 from 13 overall. This makes the BTTS @ 4/5 very tempting and likewise with over 2.5 match goals at 13/20. I quite like all 3 bets here, and while I am always a little reticent with backing more than 1 outcome from a game, I really feel this one will produce the goals I expect. KO 20.45 CET - Espanyol v Cordoba - Prediction -2.1 Best Bet - Espanyol to win at 4/7 Espanyol are a very good home side, winning 7 out of their last 9 and at a first glance this looks a good solid home banker at 4/7 odds. However, in closer inspection, Cordoba are not so bad on the road, having avoided defeat in 5 of their 11 away games. Ok, they lost 6 you might say but the 6 sides to beat them were; Barcelona, Real Madrid, Ateltico Madrid, Sevilla, Valencia and Celta Vigo. In other words, only the best sides in the division with exception of Celta. I do still expect Espanyol to win, but given they lost their last 1 at home and that Cordoba have actually won 2 of their last 5 away games, I won't back them in my main bet. KO 20.45 CET - Falkirk v Rangers - Prediction 1.2 - Best Bet - BTTS @ 8/11 Oh Rangers. What can possibly happen next? With the looming EGM on March 6th, Rangers fans could be forgiven for not giving a monkeys at events on the park as the future of their club hangs in the balance once more. That never ending feeling of uncertainty just will not escape Rangers and while the expectation is that the current board will be removed in the coming days, you just cannot escape the feeling that there will be plenty of painful twists and turns in the continuing saga in the future of the blue half of Glasgow. It is quite simply the darkest period in the history of the club and for 4 years now, this once great institution has hit a new low on an almost weekly basis. The strength of anger has reached a fever pitch and whether the players are able to focus at all on matters on the park is highly debatable, as evidenced in their form over the past 3 months or more. Since the departure of Ally McCoist, the team has struggled badly, although signs of recovery were evident in last weeks win at Raith as the team look to hold on to 2nd position and a place in the play-offs at the end of the season and a trip to Falkirk at least keeps them away from the poisonous atmosphere that surrounds the fixtures at Ibrox. I expect the Gers to claim 3 points tonight but prefer the BTTS on offer at 8/11. While the stats do not really back this one up to a great extent, I am going with my personal knowledge of the team and the fragility that surrounds them at the moment. Even though they have a fine record over Falkirk in recent years, winning each of the last 6, there is no doubting that the clubs future is weighing heavily over everyone involved there and for that reason, I simply cannot back them to win. BTTS for me, although I do expect a narrow away win ultimately. So here are tonight's best bets. Bo's Deadly Double Total Staked 2.5 Points Potential Returns 5.8 Points Bayern v Fc Cologne - Bayern -1 to beat FC Cologne @2/5 Marseille v Caen - Marseille over 1.5 team goals @ 1/2 Bo's Tasty Treble Total Staked - 1 Point Potential Returns - 5.1 Points Bayern v FC Colgone - Bayern to score over 2.5 team goals @4/6 Marseille v Caen - BTTS @ 4/5 Falkirk v Rangers - BTTS @ 8/11 Bo's Pocket Change Acca Total Staked - 0.15 Points Potential Returns - 5.2 Points Bayern v FC Cologne - Bayern -2 to win @ 21/20 Marseille to beat Caen and BTTS @2/1 Espanyol to beat Cordoba @4/7 Rangers to beat Falkirk and BTTS @11/4 Comments are closed.
