It was a frustrating midweek as I lost 2 points on Tuesday despite picking 3 out of 4 draws although i did have half a point on 2 of the draws to salvage something from an otherwise frustrating night. Wednesday proved to be a frustration as well as I picked plenty of as Basel conceded a 96th minute equaliser at home to Tel Aviv, costing me 6 points that anyone backing, had the opportunity to cover with the home side leading until the final kick of the game after their seemingly late winner, 10 minutes previously. Still, I only lost 2 points on each of the nights having covered Basel and we move on to the weekend with far too many games to analyse with the return of La Liga and Serie A to go with our usual Saturday fare of UK action. I haven't been keeping track of my totals for the week following my huge Saturday last weekend and I will get around to adding up my bets and final totals before the action tomorrow but I am very much in profit despite losing a little on Tuesday and Wednesday. My time is limited today so there won't be any big previews for the games but I have studied the team-news, stats and form for 4 games from the Championship, 5 in the Champions League qualifiers and a game in Scotland as free scoring Rangers travel to Ayr in the highly coveted Scottish Challenge Cup. Ahem.
Here are the fixtures and suggested bets for tonight. I've previewed 12 games from the Championship and Champions League qualifiers tonight in my previous post and while form and stats are minimal, I'm hopeful of finding a few winners from what we have to go on with Man United featuring in my best bet for tonight. Here are my final picks for the action tonight and I'm banking on a clean sheet for United in their big game and goals and draws in the action from the Championship. TUESDAY 18TH AUGUST - CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AND CHAMPIONSHIP - PREVIEWS, PREDICTIONS AND SUGGESTED BETS19/8/2015
I decided to give Monday's action a miss and it was probably for the best as I fancied BTTS at Anfield but didn't make the tip and Bournemouth and Bo would have been raging at their wrongly disallowed goal in what was a very entertaining performance from the new comers as they lost narrowly by 1 goal to nil. Tonight's action is tasty though with 5 Champions League qualifiers including Man Utd at home to Bruges while here are also 7 encounters from the English Championship to look at so I should be able to find some nice bets for a boring Tuesday. Here are the fixtures, predictions and suggested bets for all the best of the action tonight. After 36 points of profit yesterday, theres no need to go crazy today from a limited card but I do fancy a few selections so let's see if we can have another day of breaking bookies.
Bet365 have their free 50 in play offer today in the big game in Manchester and I'll be going for a draw with that. Here are my best bets for Sunday. We have two very tasty clashes in the Premier League today with Arsenal fresh from their 2.0 home defeat to West Ham visiting a strong looking Crystal Palace while Chelsea go to Manchester to take on a City side in what is the biggest game of the day across Europe. Theres fixtures in Germany, Holland and in the Championship to consider as well while Rangers travel to Alloa's plastic pitch looking to build on a highly impressive start under their new boss Mark Warburton but i won't publish this page until after the early kick-off so no bets there. Here are my short previews, predictions and suggested bets for all the best action today. It was a fantastic day for bobookies as my sexy single, tasty treble and dour draws all came up trumps to produce an outstanding result for what is only the 2nd week of the season as we cleaned up with over 36 points of profit on the day. Swansea were convincing winners to land my Sexy Single, while my 6/1 Tasty treble on 3 BTTS games was a fine success as well but the best of all came as Stoke fought back to draw 2.2 at Spurs to secure the 3rd of my 3 draw picks to generate a huge 30.1 points of profit from a 1 point bet! In the Championship I was red hot with 4 correct score predictions and 5 out of 6 tips coming up while remarkably I predicted all 5 draws from the 16 matches today in the 2 divisions (not including Burnley Birmingham which I failed to submit any prediction), and all 5 turned out to be the only other draws of the day! Games at Spurs, Watford, Huddersfield, Derby and QPR were the 5 games I predicted to finish as draws and all 5 remarkably finished even, with 3 of those featuring in my final selections to earn the remarkable profit. Definitely not dour and had I tried all 5 it would have been something like a 400/1 5-fold. I won't be that lucky in most weeks but I'm blowing my own trumpet for sure in saying it was a sterling effort to identify each and every draw from the Premier League and Championship today barring that 1 fixture I left out due to the early kick-off. Here are my final totals for a remarkable Saturday Here are today's final picks. I've added Sunderland v Norwich as a BTTS selection as well as West Ham v Leicester but I'm keeping the stakes low until we get into the flow of the season. Come on the luck! There's a full card from the Championship today, as well as the reintroduction of Bundesliga in Germany but with stats and form limited for this campaign, I'm loathe to put too many selections down in these opening weeks so I will give the Bundesliga a miss for this first week.
Time is limited today so there's no time for write ups so here are the fixtures and some selected bets from tjhe Championship in England. Looking at the fixtures today, I'm left with the feeling that it's not going to be the easiest of days to find winners with the season still in it's infancy and little form to base my selections on. I'm not going to read too much into last season's form with most sides making plenty of changes to both playing and management teams and only 1 round of fixtures into the campaign provides little in the way of current form so I will need to rely on my trusty gut to find the winners today. Here are my best bets for a tough looking set of fixtures. Here are some final picks for tonight's games that you might want to try for small stakes.
Friday night football comes to the Premier League for the first time tonight as Man Utd travel to Birmingham to take on Aston Villa in 1 of 3 big matches to be played this evening. In Spain, Barcelona visit Bilbao for the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup while Bayern Munich get the Bundesliga underway with a visit of Hamburg who won't have fond memories of their last visit to Bavaria which saw the hamburgers (b)eat 8.0 I fancy goals in all 3 of our games and have 2 doubles to try tonight but not much time for a big write up unfortunately. It was a winning start to the season for bobookies as 2 of my 3 main bets of the day landed with only Bournemouth letting me down at home to Villa.
There was plenty of goals as expected and I even landed a 14/1 bonkets bet with Watford taking a 2.2 draw at Everton as predicted and previewed earlier but unfortunately I didn't recommend a point stake so I won't include this in my profits. I picked some pretty good over evens picks including Charlton to beat QPR, MK Dons to win at Rotherham and the BTTS and over 2.5 goals selection at Everton but ultimately it could have been a better day had a I not had so much faith in Bournemouth who had plenty of chances at 0.0 to win the game. Let's take a look at my first day's results for the new season. The slog of the Championship season is upon us and as ever it will be tough to pick outright winners with so many competitive teams, so as ever, goals will be my central focus, especially in the early part of the season with 6 new teams in the the division from opposite ends of the spectrum. With only 5 managers still in charge from the beginning of last seasons campaign, we can be assured that plenty of changes will have taken place throughout almost all of the teams involved in this grueling 24 team league. I expect Burnley to be the strongest of the relegated sides with a strong continuity maintained in their squad while Hull under Steve Bruce should also mount a promotion push given their managers past success in the division (3 previous promotions) but a major rebuilding job will be necessary at QPR and I don't expect a major challenge from the Londoners in terms of promotion this year with plenty of changes to their playing squad. It's the best day of the year (Christmas? I think not) as we welcome back the real football after a 10 week break from domestic action and I am eagerly looking forward to our first big weekend of bets to increase the excitement. I've got a pretty good record on opening days with my usually reliable gut instinct being relied upon when form and stats are not as relevant as they normally are during the course of the season. I like the looks of a home win for Bournemouth today and the possibility of goals in various games down the country while the lunch time kick-off at Old Trafford promises to be a great opener to the season with Tottenham looking for a 3rd win in 4 visits north. New boys Bournemouth will be confident and strong at home to a weakened Villa while fellow newcomes Norwich shouldn't be overawed by the visit of Alan Pardew's Palace and the 3rd of the promoted sides Watford could snatch a point at Everton who have struggled to start the season well in recent years. I'm pretty excited that the new season is back and with so many new signings in the Premier League, I expect it to be a truly competitive division this year and add strength in depth to the excitement which makes the division the most entertaining in world football. While I have concentrated on the English action today, I am throwing in 1 bet from Scotland where i see a BTTS selection in Dundee as Hearts return to the Premier League with goals in both teams a distinct possibility. So here we go, let's get the season under way with 10.75 points of bets. I've got 6 previews for all of the action from the Premier League today with a further preview for the Championship action to follow and my pre season ante post predictions for the season to come as well Man Utd and Spurs get the action underway at 1345 CET live on BT Sports in what should be a cracking contest while Chelsea and Swansea rap up the days action with the tea time kick-off on sky at 1830 CET. Here are my big previews for the first day of a new season in the best league in the world! I'm not going to preview or justify any of these selections, so you can take them or leave them but here are my pre season bets for all of the long term outcomes over the course of the year.
Finally, the wait is over and the return of the new football season across Europe is upon us with a big weekend ahead and in the UK in particular. Of course there was plenty of football on offer over the summer but there is nothing like 3pm on a Saturday and with the first day of the new Premier League season kicking off tomorrow, I will be resuming my campaign against the bookies. I decided to take a 2 month hiatus from the site due to the lack of high quality action (Women's World Cup was rank) and also due to various illnesses so hopefully I can get back on track quickly with the first weekend of the season a favourite of mine historically. |
