First leg scores in brackets
18:00 Dynamo Kyiv (2) vs Lazio (2) - Prediction 2.1 Key Facts * Dynamo have lost only 3 of their last 19 home European matches (against Man City, Benfica, and Napoli (all in 2016)) * Dynamo are unbeaten in their last 11 home Europa League matches since 2014 * Dynamo have scored 2 goals or more in 5 of their 6 home European matches this season * Dynamo rattled in 15 goals in those 6 matches * Dyanmo are unbeaten in their last 20 home matches * Dynamo have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of their 6 home European matches this season * Lazio have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of their last 4 away Europa League matches * Lazio have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored in 16 of their last 21 matches * Lazio have only won 3 of their last 12 matches and none of their last 4 * Lazio have lost 6 of their last 12 games (1 AET) Final Verdict We should be in for a tasty contest in Kiev with Lazio travelling to the Ukraine in search of a win following a 2.2 home draw with Dynamo last Thursday. The hosts have been excellent in front of their own support this season, and I really like their chances of qualifying @19/20 with Lazio also struggling for form lately, failing to win any of their last 4 matches and with the home side only needing a 0.0 or 1.1 draw, or any win to qualify, those odds seem a touch askew, especially given the form of both sides. Goals are certainly likely with Lazio needing to score at least 1 goal in order to progress and while I expect them to manage it, I don't see them shutting out a Dynamo side that have averaged 2 goals per game in their home Europa League fixtures this season. Best Bets BTTS @8/13 - 4 stars BTTS and over 2.5 goals @21/20 - 3 stars Dynamo to score 2 or more @13/8 - 2 stars Dynamo to qualify @19/20 - 2.5 stars 18:00 Zenit St. Petersburg (1) vs RasenBallsport Leipzig (2) - Prediction 2.1 Key Facts * Zenit have won 18 of their last 20 home Europa League matches since 2010 * Zenit have scored 2 goals or more in 11 of their last 13 home Europa League matches * Zenit have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of their last 4 home Europa League matches * RBL have seen BTTS in 7 of their 9 European fixtures this season. * 6 of those 7 also went over 2.5 goals * RBL won 4.1 at Monaco and 3.1 at Napoli in their last 2 European away fixtures Final Verdict Zenit have a tremendous home record in European competition but RBL will provide a stern test of their credentials here in a fixture that looks highly likely to deliver in the goal markets with RBL protecting a 2.1 advantage from the first leg. BTTS @4/6 is the safest selection for me here with RBL performing so well in recent away games in Europe and Zenit so strong on their own patch while I also expect to see at least 3 goals and the double pays @11/10. Ultimately, I expect Zenit to push RBL hard in this contest and a 2.1 home win to force extra-time is my call here. Zenit to score 2 or more @6/5 looks good when you consider they have managed that feat in 11 of their last 13 home Europa League matches. Best Bets BTTS @4/6 - 3.5 stars BTTS and over 2.5 goals @21/20 - 3 stars Zenit to score 2 or more @5/4 - 2.5 stars 18:00 Pilzen (0) vs Sporting (2) - Prediction 2.1 Key Facts * Pilzen have scored at least 1 goal in 24 of their 25 HOME Europa League matches since 2010 * Pilzen have won their last 6 home Europa League matches * Pilzen scored 2 goals or more in all 6 wins * Pilzen scored 17 goals in those 6 matches * Pilzen scored 2 goals or more in 11 of their last 15 home Europa League matches * Pilzen have seen BTTS in 8 of their last 10 home Europa League matches * 7 of those 8 also saw over 2.5 goals scored * Sporting have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of their last 5 away European matches * Sporting have seen BTTS in 7 of their 10 European fixtures this season * Sporting have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored in each of their last 4 away fixtures (All comps) * Sporting have kept only 1 clean sheet in their last 21 away matches * Sporting have conceded 2 goals or more in 7 of their last 9 away Europa League matches since 2012 * Sporting have conceded 2 goals or more in 3 of their 4 away European fixtures this season (Champions League) * 17 of those 21 matches saw BTTS Final Verdict Victoria Pilzen will need a big performance when they welcome Sporting club de Portugal to the Czech Republic this Thursday evening with the hosts 2.0 down from their first leg clash in Lisbon 7 days ago. The Czechs have won all 6 of their home fixtures in the Europa League this season, scoring 2 or more in all 6 wins and they will need something similar if they are to have any chance of progressing to the quarter-finals at the expense of their more glamorous opponents. Sporting are certainly big favourites to qualify at just 1/16, but the home side have performed well on their own patch this season and should be able to score at least one goal against a visiting defence that have kept only 1 clean sheet in their last 21 away matches. With Pilzen having only failed to score in 1 of their previous 24 home Europa League matches since 2010, a home goal seems very likely but you would have to expect the Portuguese to find the net as well with Sporting certainly the stronger of the two sides, and likely to get plenty of chances on the break with Pizen adopting an attacking approach as they look to chase down that two-goal deficit. Given that Pilzen that have conceded in all but 2 of their last 10 home ties in this competition, BTTS at 4/5 looks likely for me. I expect an open and attacking effort from the hosts with goals at both ends my favourite selection here and while Pilzen are likely to fall short in the tie, they may well get 2 or more @6/4 to win the night and bring up the BTTS and over 2.5 goals selection @13/10 odds as well. Best Bets BTTS @4/5 - 3.5 stars BTTS and over 2.5 goals @13/10 - 3 stars Pilzen to score 2 or more @6/4 - 2 stars 20:05 Salzburg (2) vs Borussia Dortmund (1) - Prediction 2.2 Key Facts * Salzburg are unbeaten in their last 18 European matches since October 2016 * Salzburg are unbeaten in their last 33 home matches since November 2016 * Salzburg have scored 14 goals in their 7 home matches in European competition this season * Salzburg have beaten both Marseille and Real Sociedad at home in this seasons competition * Salzburg have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored in each of their last 3 European fixtures * Dortmund have seen BTTS in 12 of their last 15 away matches (all comps) * Dortmund have only failed to score in 1 of their last 31 away matches (all comps) * Dortmund have won only 4 of their last 14 away matches (all comps) Final Verdict Following a sensational 2.1 win in Germany, Salzburg are just 1/3 odds on to qualify at the expense of their illustrious opponents in this round of 16 2nd leg tie from Austria and we should expect more goals with Dortmund needing at least 2 goals to qualify for the next round. With the home side unbeaten in 18 European matches, Dortmund will need to be in top form to recover this tie so an open and attacking contest can be expected and goals at both ends seem very likely @8/15 odds and with Dortmund chasing the tie, over 2.5 goals also seems fairly likely. Dortmund will certainly adopt an attacking approach from the outset, but I don't think they will be able to keep the home side at bay and a surprise exit for the 2013 Champions League finalists seems the likeliest outcome with Salzburg unbeaten in 18 European matches and their last 33 at home in all competitions. Best Bets BTTS @8/15 - 4 stars BTTS and over 2.5 goals @5/6 -3 stars Salzburg or draw @7/10 - 3 stars
